About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Tupelo, MS, Mt Fuji offers an inviting culinary journey through the vibrant flavors of Japanese cuisine. As a distinguished Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant, Mt Fuji masterfully blends the artistry of hibachi grilling with the delicate finesse of sushi and sashimi, promising a dining experience that both excites and satisfies.

The menu is a treasure trove of delights, featuring standout dishes that appeal to every palate. The Vegetable Hibachi and Chicken Hibachi enchant with perfectly grilled, tender morsels accompanied by fluffy, savory Fried Rice. Sushi lovers will find themselves enchanted by vibrant rolls such as the Surf and Turf Roll, the fiery Volcano Roll, and the boldly flavored Thai Spicy Roll. For those seeking classic favorites, the California Roll—both spicy and regular—never fail to impress with their fresh, crisp ingredients and impeccable balance.

The lunch offerings spotlight thoughtful combinations, like the generous Bento Box complete with miso soup, salad, shumai, and a California roll, delivering satisfying variety in every bite. Brunch specials such as the Vegetable Teriyaki and Tofu Teriyaki highlight vegetarian-friendly options that are both flavorful and comforting.

Atmosphere at Mt Fuji emits a warm, welcoming vibe where families and friends gather to enjoy lively hibachi stations or a more intimate table setting. Guests often praise the engaging chefs whose flair adds an element of fun and entertainment to the meal, making celebrations and casual dinners equally memorable. The service is consistently attentive and friendly, with staff like Ashley standing out for her kind and helpful demeanor, enhancing the overall experience.

Many visitors appreciate the freshness and visual artistry of the sushi, described as "too beautiful to eat," yet utterly irresistible. While the hibachi encounters reliably deliver on expected savory satisfaction — from the sizzling New York Hibachi Steak to the succulent Hibachi Shrimp — the experience is enriched by the restaurant's inviting ambiance and thoughtful touches, such as a well-stocked bar ideal for relaxing with a crafted cocktail. However, a few guests note that the tempura items can lean towards a greasier finish, a subtle detail amid an otherwise well-balanced menu.

Mt Fuji stands as a solid and recommendable gem in Tupelo’s dining scene, rooted in authentic Japanese flavors and consistent quality. Whether you seek the fiery thrill of a hibachi grill, the delicate flavors of fresh sushi and sashimi, or a casual place to savor a well-prepared Bento Box, Mt Fuji warmly welcomes you to indulge in an experience both familiar and delightfully fresh.

My husband got a mixed drink that was pretty good. I usually get chicken hibachi and I ordered Crazy Horse rolls but i wasn't all that excited about them. They were okay but always great to try new things

Have eaten there many, many times. Never had a bad experience... Consistently, a great dining experience... Sushi is too beautiful to eat, but do it anyway because it is amazing!

Our family celebrated birthdays (2 family members have birthdays a few days apart). It was an expected hibachi experiences nothing eye popping, but fun nonetheless. The food was good but also was as expected. Still a “recommendable” place.

Went for lunch on a weekday. No wait at all. Service was good. We sat at a table- not at the hibachi grill (15% gratuity is added to the bill when sitting at the grill). The sushi is made fresh, to order. The Bento Box is large and filling. The 4 stars instead of 5 is the tempura/ fried items were a little on the greasy side. They have a nice bar, if you’re looking for adult beverages.

Freshest, most delicious sushi I can remember having, ever. I had the lunch special of soup, salad w/house ginger dressing, and two sushi rolls for approx $12. I was full after the soup and salad, but once I tried the sushi, I couldn't stop. I had the Philadelphia and spicy crab rolls and they were great choices. My daughter had the California roll, and she was also very pleased. So why 4 stars? The music was loud (which increased the volume of everyone talking over it) and none of the workers ever smiled or showed any signs of being friendly. It was good enough to go back anyway.
